bali trip photos

my colleague just walked past and asked me about my trip...and he almost got me choking on my milo when he said he stayed at four seasons jimbaran for two nights..ahemmm...

and as i was saying, we were in ubud...hahahah not at four seasons. we stayed at a locally runned hotel..as faizal said we had to support the local community instead of letting the money go to the angmohs...and it's also another excuse to say we didnt have that much moolah to book into four seasons or its like.

bali is a good place for villa hunting coz there are lots. most are big and nice..but for only two of us..we think not this time..

we stayed at alam jiwa. it's translation in english is 'soul's nature' ..and this is my fav of the two places we stayed. again it is a small outfit with only 10 suites/villa. locally run, rustic and very personal. the manager was this balinese man called komang..whom we liked to refer to as John K..coz he spoke excellent english and with a certain gravity to his words, like it seemed he had worked at the foreign service for several years.

..specifically at desa (village) of nyuhkuning. yes. there was no tv. no aircon. just us, the paddy fields, the insects (gecko chak chak sounds at night), the stream below , and the mountains.

the alam experience

bali is a place where people say you can go again and again. there is the southern beaches for surfing (not really our cup of tea tho)...the white water rafting (which we had wanted to go, but didnt have the tme), and the mountains (to hike, which i wanted to but again not enough time), the culture at ubud...and the beautiful desas...

there are the touristy parts like kuta (where we dropped by for the surfwear shopping) and the expat hangout places with the cool clubs of seminyak, the beach resort area of sanur...and many more..i can go on.

we might go back again. probably back to ubud, and maybe to seminyak and amed for snorkelling /diving.....

in the meantime, here are some of our trip photos..not much ..coz we had to juggle the sightseeing, souvenior hunting with some couple time.heh.
